Maker's Marking as Waterbury Scovill Mfg. Co. on back of each button. These later were made and marked as only Waterbury Buttons when Scovill got away from the buttons market after WWII. These buttons were produced both during WWI and WWII, so unsure which period these were exactly made in.
Sold in Qty of 6 Buttons in Very good condition.
The Scovill Manufacturing Company, originally founded in 1802, became a prominent brass manufacturer based in Waterbury, Connecticut.
By the 1920s, it was the largest brass and brassware factory in the nation, employing thousands and contributing significantly to Waterbury's reputation as the "Brass City".
The company played a vital role in military production during both World Wars, manufacturing buttons, cartridge brass, and other materials. However, the decline of the brass industry in the mid-20th century led to reduced operations, with Scovill eventually focusing on electrical appliances.
