World War II era, featuring a C-clasp with a T-bar hinge, a design element commonly associated with the late 19th to early 20th century. C-clasp pinback closure is a distinctive feature of vintage craftsmanship.
The 123rd Airlift Wing has a storied history that dates back to World War II. Initially constituted as the 123rd Fighter Group and 165th Fighter Squadron in 1946, the unit received federal recognition in 1947. During the Korean War, the wing was activated and moved to Godman Field at Fort Knox, Kentucky, where it flew P-51 Mustangs and later F-84 Thunderjets in joint NATO deployments.
