Design: The medal is a gold five-pointed star measuring 1.5 inches in diameter, with a laurel wreath encircling rays forming the center. A smaller, 3/16 inch silver star is superimposed in the center.
Eligibility: It is awarded to members of the U.S. Armed Forces, as well as foreign allied personnel and civilians serving alongside U.S. military personnel in combat
